Ezinne Akudo, 2013 Miss Nigeria, has said that not all beauty queens are motivated by superficiality.
According to her, there are a number of beauty queens who are intellectually sound and socially-conscious.
She said this on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 during a press conference to launch the 2018 edition of the pageant.
Akudo also said that the winner of 2018 Miss Nigeria will be expected to have a project on either education, environment, technology, arts, or financial management. She said that:
“I was very humbled and honoured when it was decided that I will take over this brand. Miss Nigeria has helped me and still helps me five years after.
“It gave me a voice, a platform. It’s like a family. Even after you hand over, you still have their support.
“Not all pageant winners are superficial contrary to what people think about Beauty Queens. I have met others who also have depth.
“I am very excited and can’t wait to help choose the next female leader”.
Akudo, who was called to bar in 2016, was recently appointed the creative director of Miss Nigeria.
She has an MBA from the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, UK.
