BREAKING: GBAJABIAMILA ELECTED SPEAKER WITH 282 VOTES

Femi Gbajabiamila, the immediate past Majority Leader of the House of Representatives has been elected Speaker of the 9th House of Representatives having secured 282 votes out of 358 votes cast.

Umar Bago, his only contender, garnered only 76 votes.

Bago congratulated Gbajabiamila while the votes were still being counted.

Gbajabiamila, is the longest-serving lawmaker in the House, and he represents Surulere constituency 1 of Lagos State.

The lawmaker was endorsed by the All Progressives Congress.
