SEUN KUTI PERFORMS AT THE GRAMMY AWARD BUT LOSES OUT ON THE AWARD

Though Seun Kuti, Afrobeat star lost in his first attempt to win a Grammy award, he gave a thrilling performance at the prelude event.

Seun who attended the event with his wife was nominated in the best world music album category.

He was nominated alongside Fatoumata Diawara, Bombino and Yiddish Glory but lost to South Africa’s Soweto Gospel Choir at the 61st Recording Academy award ceremony took place on Sunday, February 10, 2019 at Staples Centre, Los Angeles, California.

Femi Kuti, his older brother, has been nominated for the Grammys four times, but failed to win in 2003, 2010, 2012 and in 2014.

The Soweto Gospel Choir is the most successful African group in Grammy award history as the 2019 victory is the third Grammy win for the South African group.
