Former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s son, Olujuwon Obasanjo who has declared support for President Muhammadu Buhari’s reelection was a guest of the president at Aso Rock on Thursday, November 1, 2018.
Olujuwon, whose father has declared support for the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), former Vice President Atiku Abubakar held a meeting with the president at his official residence at the presidential villa.
In September, 2018, Olujowon wrote a letter to the President Buhari Campaign Organisation, declaring his interest to work for the reelection of the president. He wrote:
“Dear Sir, please find attached a statement of my public declaration and support for the 2019 second term reelection bid of our highly esteemed President Buhari.
“I have taken a personal decision to release the statement and to notify you of my availability to work for the reelection of our dear President Muhammadu Buhari with sincerity and loyalty. Please accept my assurances of the highest regards”.
He followed his declaration with a visit to the head office of the campaign organaisation in Abuja.
Though former President Obasanjo has not spoken on his son support for President Buhari, he has made it clear that he would not support the president’s reelection bid.
In January, he released a strongly-worded statement where he advised the president to forget about another term.
He also accused President Buhari of shielding some corrupt persons around him and also favouring a section of the country against the other.
