Afrobeat musician Seun Kuti and the Egypt 80 band have been nominated for the 2019 Grammy Award.
Seun, 35, was nominated alongside his Egypt 80 band for the world music album category for his album titled ‘Black Times’.
He was nominated alongside Soweto Gospel Choir, Fatoumata Diawara, Yiddish Glory and Bombino, for the world music album category.
“I really hope to get nominated and I hope we will also win. This album is my best work. Just like my shows, I make sure that my last album has to be my best album,” Seun said in a recent interview.
The Black Times album earned him his first entry into the Billboard music charts, its release in March.
The son of the great Afrobeat legend (Fela Anikulapo Kuti) is expected to headline the upcoming Afrobeat Festival with his Egypt 80 band.
