British formula one champion Lewis Hamilton secured what could be a decisive victory towards the championship after a flawless race to win the Singapore GP.The Mercedes driver started the race from pole after a superlative performance on Saturday for pole. His title rival Sebastian Vettel started third behind Red Bull driver, Max Verstappen.

The race started smoothly for Hamilton and Vettel after the Ferrari driver overtook Max Verstappen on the first lap to second position.

Verstappen eventually reclaimed second position from Vettel and held on to it until the end of the race. Hamilton had to fend off a late attack from Verstappen on Turn Seven to secure his fourth victory at Singapore.

With 6 races left to the end of the season and 150 points to race for, Hamilton is seriously on pole position for another championship.

His victory extends his lead over Vettel from 30 to 40 points and he needs 25 points to seal the championship for the second consecutive year.
