Lionel Messi has unseated Floyd Mayweather junior as the highest paid athlete for the first time, up from his second position in last year’s top earners list.
According to Forbes in report released on Tuesday, the Barcelona striker earned $127 million from salary and endorsement to top the list of World’s 100 Highest-Paid athletes. Floyd Mayweather, who topped the earners chart last year, did not make it to top ten in 2019 because of his retirement from boxing.
Cristiano Ronaldo was second on the list with $109 million between his salary and endorsements. PSG and Brazilian star Neymar, was third on the list $105 from salary and endorsement.
Three footballers, one Tennis player, three basketball players, one boxer and two American football players made the top ten list.
