President Muhammadu Buhari has forwarded the name of the acting Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Ibrahim Tanko Muhammad to the Senate for approval as the substantive Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN).
The Presidents request was sent in a letter to the Senate on Thursday, July 11, 2019.
Also sent by the president was a letter seeking the approval for the appointment of 15 special advisers.
The president’s request comes a day after the National Judicial Council (NJC) rose from an emergency meeting, where it recommended to President Buhari, the appointment of Justice Tanko Muhammad, as the substantive CJN.
