Nigeria’s President Muhammed Buhari will on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 travel to London to see his doctor. Garba Shehu, senior special assistant to the president on media and publicity, disclosed this in a statement. According to Shehu, the trip is expected to last four days. The president’s spokesman stated that President Buhari’s doctor had asked the president to return to London after the duo met in the city where the president had a “technical stopover” on his way from his meeting with President Donald Trump.
According to the statement: “In the course of the technical stop-over for aircraft maintenance in London on his way back from Washington last week, the President had a meeting with his doctor”. “The doctor requested the President to return for a meeting which he agreed to do. President Buhari will return on Saturday, May 12th. “On his return, the president’s two-day state visit to Jigawa, which was postponed because of the All Progressives Congress, APC’s Ward Congresses will now take place on Monday 14th and Tuesday 15th May”.
You will recall that in 2017, the president spent over 150 days in London treating an undisclosed ailment. There have been concerns over the health of the president who is seeking a second term in office but his supporters have said he is as fit as a fiddle.
