President Donald Trump returned to his Apprentice mood hours after the US midterm elections by sacking Senator Jeff Sessions, the United States attorney General.
The sacking did not come to watchers as a surprise, as President Trump has criticized Mr. Sessions on numerous occasions for his decision to recuse himself from Muller probe.
Trump took to twitter to make an official announcement after news of his sacking filtered the airwaves. Trump tweeted;
“We thank Attorney General Jeff Sessions for his service, and wish him well! A permanent replacement will be nominated at a later date”.
President Trump reportedly demanded his resignation. In his resignation letter, Senator Sessions read, “Dear Mr. President, at your request I am submitting my resignation," Mr. Sessions said in his letter.
He expressed gratitude to the President for the opportunity to serve. "Most importantly as my time as attorney general, we have restored and upheld the rule of law," he added.
