Uba Sani has won the senatorial primary election to contest the Kaduna central senatorial seat, Kaduna state under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2019 election.
Though Senator Shehu Sani withdraw from the contest in protest, he was still allocated some handful of votes.
Uba Sani who is the preferred candidate of Nasir el-Rufai, governor of the state, polled 2088 votes in the results announced on Saturday night, October 6, 2018, he was followed by Usman Ibrahim 129, Sani Saleh 55, Senator Shehu Sani 15 and Shamsudden Giwa 6.
The national working committee (NWC) of the APC had earlier given an automatic ticket to Senator Sani but El-Rufai protested against this.
According to him, a “disloyal” individual like the serving senator did not deserve getting the ticket of the APC.
Senator Sani had alleged that el-Rufai was organising a “kangaroo” primary election in the senatorial district.
He warned his agents and supporters to stay off the venue of the exercise.
In a statement, he wrote:
“This is to totally disassociate myself with the reported Kangaroo APC primary election organised by Governor El-rufai this night.
“I cannot be part of a fraud scripted by El-rufai aimed at imposing his aide, UBA SANI. The Governor’s opposition to direct primaries is all about giving him the opportunity to impose his stooges and lackeys”.
