WILSHERE & HART DROPPED FROM ENGLAND WORLD CUP TEAM
Former Manchester City and England number one Goalkeeper, Joe Hart has been dropped by English Coach Gareth Southgate from the 23 Man world cup team released Wednesday. Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere was also dropped from the team.
Hart endured a miserable season on loan from Manchester City to West Ham, conceding 39 goals in 19 league matches. He was dropped from the first team by David Moyes before the end of the season. The 31 years old Goalkeeper has 75 England caps, having man the post for England in the last world cup in Brazil, Euro 2012 and Euro 2016. His omission from the world cup team probably marks the end of Hart as far as international football is concern and follows the downward spiral his career took since Pep Guardiola dropped him from the City team.
Everton’s Jordan Pickford is expected to fill Harts position as England number one having been named alongside Burnley’s Nick Pope and Stoke City’s Jack Butland.
For Wilshere, the story is not any different. His last outing for England was Euro 2016 second round defeat to Iceland. He has scored twice for England and has 36 caps to his name. The 26 years old midfielder showed occasional signs of brilliance this season, but it was obviously not enough for Southgate.
