DIEGO COSTA HANDED EIGHT-MATCH BAN FOR INSULTING REFEREE

Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa is ruled out of the season after receiving an eight-game ban after being found guilty of insulting a referee and grabbing his arm.
Costa, 30, was sent off in Atletico’s 0-2 loss to Barcelona in last Saturdays Laliga match by official Jesus Gil Mazano.
Mazano said in his match report that the former Chelsea striker had “insulted hi mother”, a claim denied by Costa.
The Spanish Football Federation handed Costa a four game suspension for insults to the referee and a further four for grabbing the official’s arm. Costa can appeal against the ban.
The ban rules him out of Atletico’s remaining La Liga fixtures this season.
"I asked the referee and he told me Costa said something to him," Atletico Coach Diego Simeone said after the game.
"Other players have said things and not been sent off but that does not justify what Costa did."
