According to Manchester United they could introduce gender-neutral toilets at Old Trafford in a bid to make the stadium more inclusive.
This was communicated through the club’s September fans’ forum.
The proposal, which would make United the first club in the Premier League to have such facilities, is being considered by club officials.
Jim Liggett, head of security at Old Trafford said:
“It’s something we are looking at as we are keen to ensure that Old Trafford continues to be welcoming and inclusive to all supporters.
“Our commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion is important in everything that we do. We are constantly working with key stakeholders, including Stonewall, on such topics”.
United have also announced the installation of “vehicle mitigation bollards” to guard against the possibility of a terror attack. According to Ligett:
“There is a programme to install high-security hostile vehicle mitigation bollards at a number of points around the perimeter of the stadium. These works are scheduled for completion ahead of the New Year”.
